Tel's First Wrestling Tournament

Today Tel had his first wrestling tournament. He didn't do too bad especially for his first time. He has the Sprawl and Take down really good we just need to work on what to do once he is on top. He had four matches and won one. The other kids you could tell had been to a few tournaments but he had fun and that's all that matters. Wes didn't get to wrestle he has been sick with this bad cold. He was mad mom wouldn't let him wrestle. The next tournament is next week. I have to be in Boise for a State leadership conference for BPA so dad is playing Mr. Mom for a few days. I don't know who it will be hardest on dad having to get kids to the tournament by 8 or mom not being there.

Its been forever

Well it has been forever since I have posted anything to my blog. My life is so crazy I am not only teaching school but I am now giving private computer lessons to a lady in Jerome. Her husband owns a couple dealerships in the valley and has decided that she needs to work for him. The first time I met with her she didnt even know how to turn the computer on. The crazy thing is that she has a masters degree in economics. She is paying me well so I guess I won't complain. I am also going to be teaching a computer class on friday mornings after spring break. For those of you who don't know I teach 4 days a week instead of five. I am also getting ready to go to State BPA with my students I will be leaving on thursday and coming home on saturday afternoon. Steve keeps asking if my mom is sure she can't come down. He has to have the boys to twin by 8 in the morning on saturday for wrestling. I dont know who it will be worse for him or me missing the boys wrestle. You all know how much I love wrestling. Tel wasn't going to wrestle and I told him he had to. Well I will try to get some pictures posted of the boys wrestling soon.

Moms First night Away

Well the Shaw family is in store for all kinds of changes with my new job. For those of you who don't know I got my teaching degree and I am teaching Business at an alternative school about 25 miles from our home. Besides teaching I am also the BPA advisor. This means that there are a lot of conferences that I have to go to some taking students and some without. Well I had my first teaching conference. A week ago. It was my first time to Boise and for those of you who don't know me I am a wimp when it comes to driving in the big city that is why I live out in the country. Well I survived the two day trip and so did the family that was left at home. Much to my suprise the house was not just standing but Steve made sure that the front room and kitchen were clean when I got home. I was only gone one night but Steve had to call a couple times so that I could help Ariel with her math. It seems that her 4th grade math is harder than any math I remember taking. I hope we get through school with all of them. Anyways we all survived the weekend without mom and it was nice to have a little alone time to myself. I even had to go and get a tire fixed while I was gone. I got to boise and when I got out of the car the tire was almost flat I dont know how I made it there but I found a Les Schwab all by myself and got it fixed. Steve was really suprised about that. But all in all it was a good weekend and I learned a lot of stuff to help me become a better teacher.

Tel's Halloween Costume

Tel my oldest son is a huge Boise State Broncos fan I am not sure where his obsession comes from. Must come from his Grandpa Gene. All he wanted to be for Halloween was a Boise State Bronco Football Player. I looked everywhere that I could think of to find a helmet. Finally I decided I was going to have to go to one of the sports stores to get him a helmet. He was admit that it had to be a boise state helmet. Well we walked into Big 5 and the front display was a whole bunch of NFL costumes. There was a Denver Broncos one he picked it up and I knew we were going to have to buy it. I didnt tel him that it was a denver broncos costume to him it is a Boise state helmet. It cost a lot more than I was really willing to spend on a halloween costume but he has worked so hard in school and come so far I decided I would splurge and get the helmet for him. He was so funny the whole way hom from twin (which is 35 miles) he was screaming Wooooooh it was so funny the other two kids were laughing and then they started screaming. My boys are little hamms, They must get it from their dad

Halloween

Well Halloween was a little different than normal. We always do the trunk and treat at the school and then go to some of the houses out in the boonies by our house. Especially Mrs. Hawks she makes homemade Doughnuts for the whole town. Well this year the school decided to move the trunk or treat to Thursday beacause the girls volleyball team made it to state which was friday and saturday. Steve was not happy about this at all. I don't know why he was so mad its not like he was around. He was gone hunting the whole month of October. Well Where I have fridays off and the kids happened to have friday off to for teacher inservice. Lisa talked me into coming down. So we went to the trunk or treat thursday night and left early friday morning. The kids had so much fun trick or treating with their cousins. Especially Ariel anytime she gets to hang out with her only girl cousin on the Barnhurst side she has a good time. Not only did the kids get to go trick or treating the got to go ride horse and the boys got to chase Zeak and Jakes new steers. I think they were happier with the roping than with the candy.

End of Summer

Well It has been a crazy summer. Seems like it just started and now it is almost over. A lot has happened to our family this summer. The kids did a lot of rodeoing and all of them won some competititons. We are also doing a lot of stuff at our place. We are currently in process of buying it from steves family. There is a lot of work to do as with any house. I also graduated from college and we were not sure that I was going to have a job, but at the last minute a job has come through and I have accepted a position at an alternative school in gooding which is about 20 miles away. I am very excited but know that it will be a huge change for our family and will take some adjustments. I will be working a four day work week which will be nice to have fridays off. The kids all start school on the 20th and I start on the 18th. Ariel will be in 4th grade holy cow I cant believe my little girls is that old. Tel will be in 2nd grade and Wes will be in Kindergarten.

Rodeo Season

Well I have decided to join everyone else and post a blog for my family. You would think that me being a business teacher I would be one of the first ones to do this. But I guess its better late than never. Our summer is flying by the kids are all busy rodeoing and Steve and I are busy getting ready for the fair. Steve is the Vice Chairman of the Fair board and in charge of the rodeo. This year we have also decided to take on the task of running a Jr. Rodeo on a seperate night of the rodeo so you can imagine how busy I am with that. Ariel is also doing 4-H for the first time she is doing horse of course and is taking a lamb this year as well. She is hoping to make a lot of money on her lamb.
